TML starts with HVO-fuel for city distribution

The planet is challenging us... and it is up to us to take responsibility and evolve towards a sustainable business model.

After our previous efforts - such as increase in transport via road, rail and/or ship - it is now time for the nex step towards drastically reducing our ecological footprint.

90% less greenhouse gas emissions

There is no business like your business. There is also no planet like our planet. It is our objective to be able to switch quickly to a circular and
sustainable business model.

We did extensive research into environmentally friendly fuels such as CNG and LNG. We’ve also looked into the possibility of hybrid or electric trucks. TML has opted for HVO in the short term.

HVO (Hydro-Treated Vegetable Oil) is a third generation synthetic fuel that is produced from various residual streams from the food industry (such as vegetable frying oil) by means of hydrogen instead of methanol. The fact that this fuel produces 90% less greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional diesel (based on crude oil) is the most important factor for us.

HVO also produces 33% less particulate matter, 30% fewer emissions of hydrocarbon gas, 24% fewer emissions of CO² and 9% fewer emissions of nitrogen oxides. Moreover, no conversion of our trucks is needed, which gives us the opportunity to start quickly.
On a side note: the cost price of HVO is currently higher than that of normal diesel, due to higher taxes. Nevertheless, we are convinced that HVO is a feasible card for our customers.

Upon completion of transport, you will receive a carbon neutral certificate, via a registered third party. The certificate includes saving figures and can be used for your own KPI's on sustainibility as well as for external reports.

For us, the future starts today, with HVO

The development of HVO tank terminals at our sites in Ghent and Ghlin will start soon. We now have all the necessary permits for the construction.

With these new terminals, we want to commit ourselves to reducing our ecological footprint by 50% by 2025.

We will, of course, continue to invest in the search for sustainable solutions.
We hope for a future where excise taxes are no longer a deal breaker if we want to choose to preserve our environment.
