Tailormade Logistics launches mega European inbound process & logistics centre in Tongeren

Tailormade Logistics, inaugurates a new branch today, the 12th TML branch in Belgium. A mega European Inbound Process & Logistics Centre located in Tongeren.

Bundling main gateways

For an international client, active in Fashion, Sport & Lifestyle, with a global supply chain, TML was asked to quickly and proactively set up a European inbound Process & Logistics Centre.

The purpose of a central Inbound Centre is to manage the flow of goods from the main gateways: Antwerp, Rotterdam and Hamburg, but also from Liège, Frankfurt, CDG and Heathrow airports, to ensure the smoothest possible inflow. This includes handling all customs formalities centrally.

Besides physical cargo handling, ‘inbound processing’ is important. Checking quality and quantity, including ‘pre-delivery’ inspection and assembly, are part of the activities. Afterwards, the goods are shipped to the various regional distribution centres.

Connectivity with the hinterland was necessary here. Tongeren’s central, inland location is ideal in this respect. Tongeren is logistically strategically located on Belgium’s eastern border and well-connected for both road and intermodal transport. The trimodal terminal in Genk and the freight airport of Liège, good for 93,000 tonnes of goods per month, are less than 30 km away. Maastricht, Aachen and Cologne are also nearby.

25.000 M² state-of-the-art warehouse space

The new Tailormade Logistics site in Tongeren is 25,000 m² in size, but could possibly be expanded to 70,000 m² in the future.

Tailormade Logistics highly values sustainability and innovation. The site in Tongeren was recently completed and meets the latest standards.

The ‘excellent’ BREEAM certification, including the use of heat pump technology in combination with solar panels, LED lighting and charging stations for electric vehicles, was an important factor.
